One of Lovely’s handful of pixel paintings built on a scaffolding of “painted digital squares,” this one capitalizes on a color arrangement theory that she describes as a “Manet juxtaposition: When you put one color next to another it changes the value of that color. When you see the relationships between the colors the image starts to take on a personality and feel of the place. As you examine the blocks, pull back, and take it in overall. If you squint you can see the marsh on Myrtle Island.”
